Beer Geeks

A Pilsner base malt, with Munich, Carared, Flaked Oats, dark caramel, and a little roast barley with some chocolate malt for color enhancement was used. It was hopped in the kettle and dry hopped with Eureka and Australian Topaz. The River Rat Red Ale is 5.5%ABV and 50 IBU.

Food Pairing

At Old Forge Brewing Company pair the River Rat Red Ale with the Blue Jerk Burger. The burger has a nice spicy kick from the jerk sauce and the malt profile of the beer balances well with the spice. The fruity, piney, resinous hop profile complements the tangy blue cheese, will the 50 IBU’s of hop bitterness enhance the sharp bite from the jerk sauce.
